Dries and I celebrated our 25 years wedding anniversary during the week. But for one of those years, all had been spent in Madagascar. We were basically newly weds when we set out for the mission field. Some might think this to have been a double stress ; getting used to married life as well as settling into a new country. I think that in the end, married life did not nearly present so many challenges as coping with full time missionary life.
When I look back on 25 years of marriage, it cannot be separated from the years spent in Madagscar. Both required us to be firmly anchored in Christ to be able to remain standing. We give our heavenly Father all the glory for bringing us together as well as keeping us on this journey to fulfill His purpose.
