Sendingnuus Madagaskar – The Week 10 Mei 2026

The Grade 5’s wrote their national mock exam last week. We have not received the final results yet. This year we have five children from Lovako School in Russian Bay who will write the final exams. They arrived from Russian Bay a week or so before the exams and will stay until the end of the school year. Antonin, the Grade 5 teacher, works very closely with them. For the first time there is also a student from Andranompitily, the nearest village from Ampamata, where the school is located. You will remember that Andranompitily has been hostile against the school in the early years. Our very first visit, some years ago with some of the Rangers when we had a camp there, was dramatic. When we arrived in the village, all the inhabitants had fled into the bush and we were left standing surrounded by the symbols of their witchcraft practices. It took us almost three hours to walk there and after some time of prayer, we simply had to walk straight back. Since then some parents had brought their children in secret to attend the school and now we have a regular flow of children from that village. They stay in Ampamata during the week, walk back to Andranompitily on Friday afternoons and return on Sunday afternoon to be ready for school on Monday. Please pray for Noelin, Melisa, Daniela, Freda and Emerancienne during their stay on the island. They are also part of Royal Rangers on Wednesday afternoons and we trust God to continue to work in their hearts. Emerancienne, the girl with the red dress in the picture, is the student from Andranompitily.

Thank you for praying for Jan, Dries’s brother. He underwent an operation and spent a week in ICU. We are not sure how long he will be in hospital for, but we are thankful for the improvement in his condition.

I am off to the boat for some more painting jobs this week. Have a blessed week.
