Intense tropical cyclone Freddy passed over Madagascar in record time and ended up causing less death and destruction than anticipated. People had enough time to prepare, strengthen roofs and kept away from the sea. Here in the north, we did not experience much of its effects. We had very strong wind one night, but the ropes with which Dries had tied down the mast of the boat, held without problem.
The heat and humidity really affected us last week and we felt drained and tired most of the time. This is the time of the year when you carry a little towel wherever you go, to wipe down the sweat which simply runs down your face. This never seems to affect the children though. They remain forever brighteyed and undeterred by the heat. Euphrasie and I share a classroom for our Ranger meetings and it gets sweltering hot in there. We concluded our sea animals merit and each patrol had to make a poster and add their drawings to it. Girls usually do their thing quietly and conscientiously, but the boys were giving it their all in a different way. I did not think that making a poster would be such a serious matter for them. By the time I went home, I was ready to pass out from the heat as well as having to cope with their endless energy.

Zydrio, the boy on the far left, made real progress. He has a learning disability, and is far behind the rest of the kids in his classs. We were all excited to watch him blossom during this merit of drawing, colouring and cutting. He was able to stay focused throughout and delivered beautiful drawings.
Thank you for your faithful prayer and support. We love and appreciate you. Have a super week!
