Sendingnuus – Madagaskar The week 28 September

I arrived safely in the beautiful Cape. Martine, my English student, of a couple of months ago, decided to come with me to perfect her English as part of a future position as crew on a yacht. It was a sudden decision and God is so faithful as people opened their hearts to Martine. So far, one family will host her for some of her time here and there is also the possibility of another family. This is what Dries and I prayed for, because we want Martine to be exposed to true believers so that she will know what Christianity really means. Please pray with us for Martine to know Jesus as her Saviour and that God has a plan and purpose for her life.

I am so thankful that a car has been provided for me. It is becoming more difficult concerning transport when we visit South Africa. I have the use of this car for the duration of my stay here. Thank you to all of you who prayed. At the moment, I am visiting my mom in Moorreesburg. The Royal Ranger summit and camp will start on the 13th of October and I will travel there by myself. Please pray for protection. Thank you for all the kindness and love that I have experienced since my arrival. I appreciate all of you.

Dries is doing well back in Madland. He spends most of the week on the boat as well as the Ranger meetings and whatever else needs to be done at school. The Adventure and Expedition Rangers started off the new school year with an advanced knot merit. Our junior leaders are also taking up the challenge to teach some of the knots. This is special for us as God is raising up these young people to teach and reach out.

Little Marisika joining in the worship…

There have been marches against the government in the capital Antananarivo. It turned into rioting when the government banned these peaceful marches. The young generation is fed-up with the fact that there is no future for them. They are marching against the poor conditions and poverty: electricity cuts for hours and sometime days, no running water and a broken education system. We live far away from the capital, but we experience these problems on a daily basis at school. Unfortunately, the rioting led to looting and the destruction of shops and property belonging to government officials were burnt down. As far as we know, five people died. Malagasy people are very peaceful and generally not violent, but when they do decide to act, it shows the despair and the urgency of the situation. Please pray that the government will listen to the people and that there will be change.

Have a blessed week.
