I am slowly getting back on my feet…literally that is. It helped that the school was closed for the Easter break and that I did not have to walk much. It gave me some time to do the preparation for the final term before the end of this school year in June.
We are considering doing a camp with the Adventure and Expedition Rangers after their final exams. Please pray with us for a suitable venue as we want them to sleep over so that we can pack as much as we can into a couple of days. We are praying about a suitable theme and Dries and I believe that we have to go back to the foundation of the Gospel. Most of our Saturday Rangers don’t come from Christian homes and this year we also welcomed some young people from other schools where there is no Biblical teaching. Please pray with us as we have to start planning and that God will guide us to what we need to share.
Dries is getting back into his routine of working on the boat during the week. We realise that Gabriel has been out of the water for a year now and it is vital that the boat will be ready by the end of the year. We simply cannot go on like this. The financial burden to cover the boat yard costs as well as paying for a speed boat to go to Lovako School in Russian Bay, is becoming untenable. Furthermore, there is always something at school that needs to be done and that really interferes with the work on the boat. A fence needs to go up before the end of the school year, because we have to keep the neighbouring people and their goats, dogs and chickens out of the school grounds. The situation is such that we cannot plant anything or place anything which will enhance the outside of the school as it either gets stolen or destroyed. As you can probably hear, frustrations are running high.
You might remember Martine my English student of a couple of months ago. The goal was to help her to reach a level of English that would enable her to pass the very tough STCW training course before she could become part of the crew on a super yacht in Monaco. She was very nervous about this exam, because it is known to be physically very demanding. I remember when we practised some of the first aid. I was the dummy lying on the floor having some kind of medical emergency while she had to revive me. She was particularly worried about the fire fighting part. I said to her that as long as she did not scream like some of the girls on the video clips we had watched together, she’ll be fine. Well, she passed her exam with flying colours and managed it in English. She also assured me that she did not scream when she had to put out a fire. I am extremely proud of her.
We appreciate your love and support. May you have a blessed week.
