Weeklikse nuusflits van Lynette van Madagaskar: Die week 26/03/2023

Better start on a positive note…

Dries managed to get both of Gabriel’s outboard motors working well and he is building a support out of very strong wood and old car tyres in anticipation of taking the boat out of the water.

We have to do a trip to Russian Bay though. This decision is the result of some worrisome news about the school. We do manage to stay up to date about what happens at Ampamata school and I was so disappointed to hear that Ledesy, the grade 4 teacher has been up to no good once again. I consider being drunk in a bar during school time a very serious misdemeanour and he needs to go. That means that we’ll have to suspend the pre-school until a new teacher can be found, because Bruni and Soaviny will have to cope with all the classes from grade 1 to 4. We don’t have grade 5 students this year, so that helps. The other issue that will need to be dealt with is the fact that we asked Bruni not to use the school as a Catholic church meeting place. This seems to be still the case and we’ll have to give her a final warning about that. The spiritual atmosphere at the school was dark the last time we visited and even Euphrasie was very upset by this. I ask myself why people don’t take responsibility for anything and how they can fall back into darkness once they have seen God at work. We’ll go to Ampamata with Gabriel and spend a week there. We won’t be able to sail as Dries has already started to prepare the boat for its time out of the water. So, it will be a risk, but we have no choice. School will be closed for the two week Easter break, so we’ll head out after that. Please pray for us as there is so much going on. We still have no news about the re-registration of the boat, further building at school has come to a standstill and we feel the pressure.

Let me end off positively too, especially since it concerns Masilaza who was one of the first children in Lovako school and who had succeeded in the national exams. She visits us every Saturday and I help her with her school work. She is such an eager learner and even took to the computer with no problem. After our busy morning, we all go to Rangers together.

So, I suppose what I am saying is that we have to persevere with Lovako school and pray that God will give us wisdom in dealing with the challenges. I think of little Estella who died knowing that she belonged to Christ and Masilaza who has so much potential; we have to focus on what God wants to do in people’s lives.

Have a blessed week.
