Sendingnuus: Lynette se nuusflits Die WEEK – 5/10/2025

I have been blessed by the hospitality and kindness of family and friends during my time here in Cape Town. Going to church and connecting with supporters and prayer partners, is always a time of refreshing and encouragement. My mom turns eighty-two this month and spending time with her is a priority even though it is not always easy amid a busy schedule.

Dries spends four days of the week on the boat and the rest of the time at school and Royal Rangers. The new pre-school is functioning very well and the teachers are happy to have their own classrooms. A new wall is being built on the one side of the school in anticipation of the rainy season. Bruno, the boatyard owner where Dries works on Gabriel, donated a water tank to the school. Dries will install this tank to collect rain water during the rainy season as the water situation at school is not improving. There is also a new addition to our little lemur family. At this point in time, he is nothing more than what resembles a kitten with really long legs, holding onto his mother.

The riots and protests are continuing in Madagascar, mainly in the capital of Antananarivo. The young people, who started the uprising, have since been joined by the rest of the population. The concerns about lack of water and electricity, the poor education system and corruption are the main issues. The fact that the president, Andry Rajoelina, fired his cabinet did not appease the protesters and they demand his resignation. Please pray for this situation, because it will lead to a general instability in the country, resulting in more unemployment and an increase in the poverty rate which already affects about 80% of the Malagasy people.

Please pray for the Royal Ranger Africa Summit and the NRMC (National Rangers Ministry Camp) which starts on Tuesday and continues until 22 October. Pray for this special time when I look forward to meet other Royal Ranger leaders. I am privileged to be a part of this event where I’ll also have the opportunity to share about our Ranger ministry. I will be driving to Stanford for this event and ask that you will pray for protection.

Have a blessed week!
