Missionaries to JAPAN
Position: Full time Missionaries to Japan
Mission Japan (a joint Committee of the DRC Family and the Reformed Churches in SA) in collaboration with the Christian Reformed Church of Japan are hereby announcing that an official process is launched for the recruitment and calling (by Mission Japan) of a missionary couple(s) to work with the RCJ Shikoku Presbytery in Japan.
We hereby invite couples, not older than 35 years of age, to apply for this position. The applicants should have a vision, strong calling and commitment to world missions in general and specifically to Japan (where less than 1% of the population identify as Christian including Protestant and Catholic groups).
The suitable candidates will:
- 1. Be members of the DRC Family of churches or the Reformed Churches of SA;
- 2. Be in possession of a bachelor’s degree in theology (B.Th. or B.Div. or M.Th. or M.Div.) or in their final years of studies;
- 3. Have a clear understanding of, and commitment to, Reformed Theology and the Reformed Presbyterian system of church governance;
- 4. Be Legitimized / Licensed (“gelegitimeer”) within one of the DRC Family of churches or the Reformed Churches of SA;
- 5. Have proficiency in English (any TEFL qualifications or training will count in your favour).
The recruitment committee will review candidates that have:
- 1. A clear understanding, personal experience of and commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour;
- 2. A Biblical and deep inner experience of being called by God into full-time cross-cultural missions in general (and specifically Japan);
- 3. Experience in, understanding of and a commitment to cross-cultural ministry and living in cross-cultural settings;

Applications will be received together with the requested documents and be reviewed by the recruitment committee. This committee consists of a South African team and a Japanese team.

Important:
- 1. All correspondence has to be in English. This includes the required documents such as copies of academic records etc.;
- 2. This is not a paid missionary position. Candidates will be required to raise support which is then managed by Mission Japan;
- 3. Ordained ministers become ordained missionaries / ministers in the Reformed Church of Japan;
- 4. This position requires that candidates learn to become fully proficient in Japanese. This is NOT an English ministry position.
