Madagaskar – Lynette’s Madanews : Update 5 March 2022

I know that there has not been an update from our side for a while, so to dispel any ‘fake news’, let me share with you what is happening.

During the week, a date has been given for the re-opening of Madagascar’s borders. Starting from 5 March theoretically, flights from other countries apart from France should open up. No indication has been given when this will include Nosy Be, but we are hopeful that it will be by the end of March or April.

Dries and I have spent the last couple of weeks between Kleinmond and Suurbraak, a small town 15 km from Swellendam. We have worked hard, doing maintenance jobs like painting. We also had some time to walk and explore and met some wonderful people. It is the first time in many years that we are able to be in South Africa at the same time and what a special time of refreshing. We are blessed.

At the same time, our hearts are in Madagascar especially with the fifth cyclone of the season already making landfall in the country. The north, where we live, has not experienced a direct cyclone, but heavy rain and some flooding. Please continue to pray with us for Gabriel’s protection. As someone prayed at a recent Bible study, ‘Jesus, you are the Captain of the boat, steer us safely over stormy waters.’

Larisdiana and Sitraka welcomed their baby girl named Mitsiky (smile), on the 1st of March. This is very special to us and we are like the grandparents of this child.

Thank you for your love and support. Have a blessed week!
