Sendingnuus – Madagaskar: Die week 15 Desember 2024

The final week of school was a busy one. Exams, parents meeting and the fun day of the Discovery and Kids Rangers. As we have no place at school for outdoor activities, we walked down to Ficus hotel which is closed, but always allow us to have our camps and fun days there. It is not really suitable for swimming, because of the rocks, but the children enjoy the open space. It was muddy walking there and barefoot was the most successful way to ensure that you don’t leave your shoes behind. The leaders prepared games and there was never a moment where anyone sat down. I am always amazed at the energy levels of these kids.

We also had our last meeting of this year with the Saturday Rangers. After a downpour which was so loud that we could not even hear each other, work on the paper stars for Christmas decoration, finally got underway. They had a lot of fun although most were covered in glue and glitter. I think Dries ended up helping most of them to glue their stars together. We ended our year with worship and as always, something nice to eat. Dries and I are very happy with how the Junior Leaders who stepped into their new roles with enthusiasm. To God be the glory for all He has done!

Dries had to finish work on the gutters at school. The ones that had been broken when the roof blew off earlier this year, but also the gutters for the new classroom. We shall take a break from Christmas until New Year. Our quiet time at home did not start off too well. Jirama, our electricity provider, blasted us with a power surge yesterday. That meant that the main distribution box blew as well as appliances. We were not home at the time and Dries only lost his very good battery charger, still brought from South Africa. Our neighbours lost their fridge and coffee maker. We were told that we might get a replacement by the end of January. That means no electricity until then. PM will help out by connecting us to his generator for some of the day, but it will be a challenge to say the least.

We wish you all a joyous Christmas and a peaceful 2025. Thank you for your love and support.
