This week’s news might sound like lamentations all around, but the difficulties and spiritual attacks leave us somewhat bruised and despondent. We have been encouraged by testimonies from missionaries in other countries this week and listening to sermons always strengthen us.
I was blessed when this scripture was shared with me.
Deuteronomy 32:4 “He is the Rock, his works are perfect and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.” And then verse 3 is the perfect response to who God is, “I will proclaim the name of the Lord, Oh, praise the greatness of our God!”
We were a very small group of Rangers yesterday due to some poor communication and so we decided to just spend some time in praise and worship and not to follow the planned lesson. This gave opportunity for sharing prayer requests, thanking God for what He has done and we all left there refreshed and lighthearted.
So, our challenges seem smaller when we proclaim God’s greatness.
It is official now, our valuation of Gabriel was not accepted. The re-registration has reached an impasse and we don’t know what will happen next. Dries also noticed that the plans of the boat drawn up by the authorities and which we were all compelled to have done and pay for, were hugely erroneous. It states that our boat weighs 51 tons and is a fibreglass boat. Actually, Gabriel is a marine ply, fibreglass coated boat which weighs a mere 3, 5 tons. At least the agent, mr Hussen, seems to begin to understand our unique situation. He will try his best to re-negotiate on our behalf.
We were looking forward to host a team of students from South Africa in July on an outreach, but the price of flight tickets is simply too high. If someone can explain to me how these prices were able to double in less than a year, I might be able to accept it. The fact that the Malagasy government slapped such a huge tax on every ticket which comprises more than a quarter of the total price, is simply criminal.
We are moving into the final weeks of this school year. A Ranger camp with the Kids and Discovery Rangers from school is planned. It will be a four day camp 27 – 30 June. We all all very excited about the theme; ‘Sea Explorers’. The focus will be on Bible stories with a water theme and in the afternoon we want to do an ocean conservation series. As the camp will be 50m from the beach, this will allow us to do some practical things like picking up rubbish and studying sea life in the tidal pools. Lots of planning to do, as it will be a large group of 120 children. For that reason, it will be a day camp only as we don’t have nearly enough tents to accommodated everybody. The fact that it is walking distance from the school, makes this very doable.
Please pray with us for all these requests.
God bless!
